Last Sunday dawn, a train heading to the north
collapses. The train was supposed to shipped supplies to the north region of
Mexico, but it’s well known that this train, also carries South American immigrants
that uses Mexico as jump to immigrate, illegally to USA.
It’s a
terrible notice that this train collapses with people riding it, by now, at
least 6 people have died and aprox. 30 more people were injured, but my main
argue for this text is… does we have to worry for their safety? Because, if we
see this event in a “legal” way, they are illegal immigrants that hop the
borders in pursuit of a better economic life. But, if we analyze the event by
other point of view, according to human rights, this people were, and are being
treated under conditions that are against human right.
Also, at
what point is ridiculous how well-known is that this train carries illegal
immigrants and Mexican authorities doesn’t
take actions on it? People board the train has to pay a “toll” to criminals in
order to make the trip “safely” and again Mexican authorities don’t take any
kind of actions.
Again it’s
a huge debate how to treat this case, because in one hand we got a several accident, but in
the other hand, we got this illegal actions that we can’t “protect” them because
they’re against law, but also it’s a profitable business for criminals. If Mexican
authorities support this South American immigrants, USA can argue that Mexico is
supporting illegal migration t the USA. And also, we can’t aloud completely that
this same immigrant’s stay in Mexico because one way or another they are get an
illegal stay in the country.
At the end
we got the same debate, treat them as “criminals” allowing them to immigrate to
Mexico or USA by illegal ways, or we can help them because Human Rights say so.
Maybe the most rational way to respond as government is helping this immigrants
being back t their countries, but they will not permit that, because the reason
they’re trying to reach USA is because they don’t want t be in their countries because
f the economic situation.
Also,
authorities “can’t do anything” because it’s criminal are taking advantage of
the situation and making money (illegally), people are being treated not like
that and it’s an issue that affects, migration, bilateral relations, economy
and f course human life.
